Lindsay Wadelton defines rainy-day fan loyalty.

While she lives as a photojournalism student in Gainesville, where the Gator college football team is working toward a third national victory in four years, her heart pumps teal and gold for the Jacksonville Jaguars, whose stadium sits an hour and a half away.

The Jags are coming off of a 5-11 season from 2008, they lost their stadium sponsorship from Alltel in 2006, and whispered rumors constantly predict that that the team will be moved to Los Angeles.

But Lindsay reserves her disappointment for Jacksonville’s spirit of support, which has partly evaporated in past years.

“If the Jags moved, I don’t know if I’d ever go back to Jacksonville,” Lindsay said. “I would be so disappointed with the community… I would feel totally betrayed by the community of Jacksonville. I’d feel like it was symbolic of a city destined for failure.”

She may even move to Los Angeles, if that’s where the team went, she said.

In the spirit of reigniting fandom, and of connecting with other fans who love the sport and culture of the Jags, Wadelton has begun a blog titles “Lady in Teal.”

She gives spirited, insightful recaps of Jags games, sprinkled with personal snips on rivalry, love and culture, as well as other Jag news, such as the attempt to woo Tim Tebow to Florida’s east coast.
