Although Kristen Huff was born in Maryland and is now a Florida resident, she claims she’s a Jersey girl at heart.

Huff grew up in a small town in New Jersey, and admits: “I hated it. I called it Boring Town.” However, she says she still travels back to Jersey to visit family.

Soccer kept Huff entertained from age 5 until she was a junior in high school. She recalls slide tackling as her claim to fame. She says she wishes she could still play, but soccer has taken a backseat to school.

The 21-year-old University of Florida senior confesses her life now consists of school, Reitz Union Board Entertainment, a campus organization, and her boyfriend, Thomas Lamadrid.

“I hated him at first,” Huff admits of Lamadrid.

To break up a fight a party, he took off all his clothes, she explains. After a brief period of disgust, Huff says she finally opened up to him, and they’ve been together for about six months.

This busy Jersey girl also finds time to run, write and intern. She interned with Shands Healthcare in the public relations and marketing department, and says she was able to see the other side of journalism.

“I’ll definitely probably still be involved with journalism after I graduate,” she says, “whatever ‘journalism’ ends up being.”
